Sandness Primary’s resident bear Bearamy spent an afternoon of work experience with a local opticians as part of the school’s career week.
Bearamy was welcomed to Specsavers in Lerwick recently and spent time understanding the role of an optician and what it’s like to have an eye test.
Upon arrival, customers’ were greeted by Bearamy who was stationed at the reception desk. He proved to be a first-class store mascot during his visit as children felt more comfortable getting their eyes checked after Bearamy joined the opticians to demonstrate some of the steps in the test process.
Big hit with customers
Store director Thomas Bruin said: ‘It was great to have Bearamy in store for the day. We hope he enjoyed his experience and we would be happy to welcome him back again as he proved to be a big hit with customers and not just the youngsters.’
As well as Specsavers, Bearamy also spent time with other businesses along Commercial Street, gaining valuable experience in many different job roles.
