We are pleased to introduce to you one of our store directors, Bhavash Kotecha.
How long have you been with Specsavers?
I have been with Specsavers since the beginning of September 2000 which is when I opened my first Specsavers store in Bletchley.
What made you go into optometry and what are your qualifications?
Having been a glasses wearer since the age of six, I have always been interested in the eye. I was always fascinated when going for eye examinations and watching the optometrist work. So, when it came to deciding my own career path, it was not a difficult decision!
How has your life changed since qualifying in 1998?
I qualified in 1998 and since then optometry has come on such a long way. It has evolved and developed and I have experienced many changes in the profession, particularly with emerging technologies and changes in attitudes.
Where were you born and raised?
I was born and brought up in London and I studied in the midlands at Aston University, the same as my wife and partner director, Ekta.
What is your favourite part about the job?
The thing I love most about my job is meeting patients and building relationships with them over long periods of time as they return each time they require a sight test. In some cases, I have had almost three generations of patients coming to me for their eye care which is incredible!
Have you enjoyed your experience with Specsavers?
I have most definitely enjoyed my time with Specsavers. It has allowed me to develop a wide variety of skills, particularly since having my own JVP business which has enabled me to further my clinical expertise whilst gaining valuable experience in the business side of things. It has been an extremely fulfilling journey so far and I am really looking forward to the future and what it holds for the business.
