This December Specsavers in Leighton Buzzard has been running a luxury Christmas hamper raffle for Rett UK.

The charity has been chosen as it is incredibly close to a member of the local community, Lucy Andrews, whose relative suffers severely from the syndrome. Sadly she can’t walk, talk or feed herself. She is also severely epileptic and has curvature of the spine. Rett syndrome is a genetic brain disorder that typically becomes apparent after 6 to 18 months of age in females.

Staff raised funds through a Christmas hamper raffle

Staff managed to raise more than £120 for the cause which will go towards supporting families and individuals that are affected by the disorder.

Ekta Kotecha, Leighton Buzzard store director, said: “We love to do our bit for charitable causes in store, and I am glad we can fundraise for a charity so close to the hearts of our local community that we are proud to be part of.”
