Customers were treated to a dazzling show as staff from a local opticians donned their brightest high-visibility clothing for Road Safety Week.

Raising awareness

To coincide with this year’s national Road Safety Week initiative (17-23 November), Specsavers in Leighton Buzzard have been raising awareness of the event and promoting this year’s campaign message, ‘look out for each other’.

First response

The store, located at 18 Waterborne Walk, will supported the local first response unit and raised vital funds by asking friends, family and customers to sponsor their week long efforts or donate some money to help the local heroes to continue the invaluable work they do. The store was decorated in bright coloured bunting and balloons and donations of high visibility jackets were made to all children with their sight tests to keep them safe when using the roads during the dark winter evenings.

Road safety week

Specsavers Leighton Buzzard store director, Ekta Kotecha, says: ‘Road Safety Week is a really important initiative and we are thrilled to have supported the week long campaign again this year.


‘Hundreds of accidents and tragedies take place on our roads every year and without the first response unit’s brave efforts, so many more people would be falling victim to traffic accidents. This is why we are determined to not only support the group but also raise awareness of road safety among the younger members of our community.’

Look out for each other

Specsavers stores across the nation are supporting Road Safety Week and it’s message for the year, ‘look out for each other’ through various high visibility jacket donation activities. The Leighton Buzzard store will be distributing the remaining jackets in store.
