The team at Specsavers in Leamington supported a successful attempt to break a Guinness World Record by building the world’s largest blanket fort.
A total of 83 volunteers used 2,500 safety pins, 7,000 kg of scaffolding, 1,000 metres of garden wire and 12,900 square feet of blankets to create the fort, helping to raise more than £6,000 for a local homeless shelter - LWS Night Shelter.
A word from the store director
‘We’re thrilled to hear that the attempt was a success,’ said store director, Lena Thakor. ‘We sponsored the challenge as well as donating a pair of designer specs to the fundraising raffle. It looked like it was quite the military operation to get the fort built and we’d like to say a big well done to everyone that helped out.’
All the blankets have now been cleaned and donated to homeless shelters all over Warwickshire.
LWS Night Shelter is a not-for-profit organisation set up to provide food, shelter, and company for homeless and vulnerably housed people in Leamington Spa and the surrounding area.
