Staff at Larne Specsavers store have continued their support for Guide Dogs NI with a unique fun day for customers held on August 11.
Special guests at the event were Vicky Kyle, a local Larne lady who brought along her beautiful guide dog, Ivy. Vicky chatted to customers highlighting the invaluable work carried out by Guide Dogs NI helping people like her with severe sight loss to lead a normal and fulfilled life.
Cakes, buns and puppy tail game
The Larne Specsavers team provided cakes and buns as well as prizes for younger patients who had a go at a classic game with a twist – ‘Pin the tail on the Puppy.’
The fun day raised £113 for the local charity and the store aims to continue its partnership with Guide Dogs NI and organise future customer and staff fund-raising events.
Cash helps buy key necessities
Guide Dogs NI provides a range of services for people living with sight loss – around 30,000 adults and children. Funds raised help the charity to purchase items such as a ‘whelping kit’ (a bed and items for delivering puppies) dog eye tests, white harnesses, blue puppy dog coats and visits to the vet.
Thanks to all our generous customers
Store director Deirdre McAree said, ‘It was a pleasure to have Vicky and her dog Ivy in our store. We had a fabulous and very interesting day. Everyone learned a lot about Guide Dogs NI and how much they rely on donations from the public to train and support guide dogs and their owners.’
‘We’d like to thank all our patients and everyone who called into the store and contributed to this very worthy cause - their generosity was very much appreciated. We really enjoyed the day.’
