Specsavers staff in Lakeside are taking part in a charity bike ride based in the Essex region.
The bike ride, which will take place on 19 May, will see Lakeside and other stores, including: Braintree, Brentwood, Maldon Leigh-on-Sea and Southend take on a 60 mile cycle for the Alzheimer's Society.
Shakeel Hirani, ophthalmic director at Specsavers at Intu Lakeside, said: ‘Alzheimer’s Society is incredibly important charity. It plays a big part in fundraising for the scientific research to treat and prevent dementia, so I’m determined to raise as much money as possible for the charity.
‘We’re hoping the bike ride will be worth all the hard work and training as we’re aiming to raise at least £1000 for the charity.’
This is the second time Shakeel will be taking part in a charity bike ride this year. Last month he took part in a static instore charity cycle in aid of Comic Relief.
Alzheimer’s Research UK is dedicated to funding scientific studies to find ways to treat, cure or prevent Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, Lewy Body disease and fronto-temporal dementia.
