Kirkintilloch locals helped the town’s opticians to raise almost £600 for Red Nose Day recently.
The store organised a bake sale and customers also had the chance to purchase children’s lucky dip envelopes for £1 each, which contained a mixture of balloons, stickers, drawing books and crayons.
Staff also sold 270 pairs of comedy waving specs which contributed £540 to the store’s fundraising total.
A helping hand from the community
Neil Drain, store director at Specsavers in Kirkintilloch, said: ‘We’d like to thank everyone in the town who supported our fundraising campaign.
‘We are pleased to have contributed to such an important national fundraiser.’
Specsavers in Kirkintilloch joined stores nationwide to support Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa, and pledged to raise at least £250,000 for the charity.
