Tell us a bit about yourself.

I have two kids who are both at school and I enjoy singing and music.

How did you come to run at Specsavers store? 

I was approached by Specsavers to join the team in 1996.

Do you wear specs, and if so, what is your favourite style? 

I have recently started wearing specs for reading and I like coloured lightweight frames.

What does your job at Specsavers Opticians involve?

My job can be extremely busy and varied from testing eyes to dealing with staff and HR.

How long have you been with the company?

I’ve been with the company for 17 years.

What is the best part of your role?

I enjoy many aspects of my job, especially contact lens fitting.

Any challenges?

Balancing all the different aspects of the role with clinical responsibilities.

How many members of staff do you have working at your store? 


Does your store do any community work?

We go out to schools to discuss our work and carry out charity work in the store.

What does an eye test involve?

An eye test involves discussing with customers their problems and working through tests to resolve. We also check the health of the eyes to eliminate any further problems. 

Why is it so important to get your eyes checked regularly? 

It’s so important to check the health of the eyes and maintain good visual function.

Who should consider getting a hearing test?

Everyone should have a hearing test to check they are hearing properly and to increase awareness of hearing loss.

How can customers book an eye or hearing test? 

Customers can ask one of the staff members who can arrange a screening test. If a defect is found, an appointment can be booked with the hearing dispenser to discuss further.
