Preparations are well underway for the bigger and better ‘Roon the Toon’ Kilmarnock 10k this summer with the backing of new gold sponsor – Specsavers.
Kind-hearted staff from the Kilmarnock opticians are also pulling on their running shoes to take part in the local 10k, raising vital funds for Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).
The budding competitors so far from Specsavers include store director Martin O’Neill, manager Philip Sui, Brian Chapman and Craig McCluskey.
Kilmarnock’s ‘Roon the Toon’ 10k takes place on Sunday 10 June 2018 from 10am.
Proud to support
Myra Smith, store director at Specsavers Kilmarnock, said: ‘We are proud to support local events in our town and this year’s 10k event is set to be the best yet.
‘At Specsavers we aim to be at the heart of the community and we are keen to support local clubs, charities or events in any way we can.
‘We wish all the competitors, including our Specsavers running team, the best of luck in training and on race day.’
Encouraging locals to be active
Ian Gebbie, race organiser from Kilmarnock Harriers commented, ‘We are doubly delighted to have Specsavers participating both as Gold Sponsors and as competitors.
‘Their involvement is entirely in line with our own objectives of getting local folk more active and of attracting visitors to the town.’
