Specsavers in Keynsham is benefiting as members of staff pass their qualifications to become fully-fledged optometrists and dispensing opticians after completing on the job training.
Chris Clarke, aged 27, joined the Specsavers team in 2014, trained under supervision for a year is now a dispensing optician at the store. Utilising his skills, he gives customers an ophthalmic dispensing service of the highest clinical standards.
Rebekah Kirk, aged 24, started in January 2017 when she completed her pre-registration year and has now taken on a qualified optometrist position at the store.
‘The team have been so helpful here at Specsavers in Keynsham,’ said Rebekah. ‘I’ve gained some really valuable experience, helping to improve my clinical skills as well as how I communicate with customers. The pre-reg period was an intense experience but a very unique opportunity and I’m grateful to all the team and my fellow optometrists for their support.’
‘Rebekah has only been with us for a year and a half, but she has achieved great success in that time,’ said Richard Alexander, store director. ‘We’re delighted with her success so far as a qualified optometrist.’
