Staff from Kenilworth flexed their green-fingers on Sunday 19 August at the 15th annual Kenilworth Allotment Tenant Association (KATA) open day at Odibourne allotments.

Volunteers from the allotments were on hand to greet visitors as were members of the Kenilworth store team. Maintaining the green theme, the team handed out Specsavers ‘bags for life’ and raised awareness of the store’s current offer of free eye tests for all.

'Scarecrow competition'

The highlight of the day was the scarecrow competition, with creative entries including characters from The Wizard of Oz and a synchronised swimmer featuring the Specsavers logo. Whilst judges awarded a prize to the best scarecrow, visitors were encouraged to count them on their walk around the seven-acre allotment with a chance to win a prize if they got the number right.

A word from the store director

Ambreena Bhatti, store director, said; ‘The team had a wonderful time at the open day. It was great to see two of the scarecrows on display sporting the Specsavers logo, one even had his glasses on!’.
