Specsavers in Keighley has been inspired by the arrival of the cycling event that comes to the region this summer and has decided to host a cycleton to raise funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

Cycling 201Km

The cycleton will take place from Thursday 3 July through to Sunday 6 July in the store. The team of 40 has set themselves an impressive challenge of attempting to cycle 201 kilometres – the distance of stage two of the race - in just four days.

Nigel Wilson, store director at Keighley Specsavers, explains: ‘You can’t help but feel excited about the arrival of this summer’s cycling event – it’s probably a once in a lifetime experience for all of us. We’ve decided to take inspiration and celebrate the event by getting on our bike and turning our pedal power into much needed funds for Manorlands Hospice.

Come down to cheer them on

‘It will be a team effort and I applaud every one of them for getting into the spirit of the occasion and taking part. I’d urge people to come down, cheer them on and help top up the charity tin. 200 kilometres miles is no mean feat so all support and donations will be very much appreciated.’

The money raised will go towards helping Manorlands to continue to provide their specialist palliative services to people, both at the hospice and in the local community.
