An opticians in Irvine celebrated the relaunch of its audiology service with a day dedicated to raising awareness of the impact of hearing loss.
Specsavers in the Rivergate Shopping Centre has expanded its audiology service to include earwax removal in addition to hearing checks, hearing aid fitting and advice.
And to celebrate, the store hosted a day of information-giving to make customers aware of all the services it now provides.
Dogs and service users from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People were also there on the day, and generous staff and customers raised almost £200 for the charity.
Specsavers’ ‘big ear’ mascot also popped in for a visit.
A word from our store director
Store director Gill Syme said: ‘Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a fantastic charity and the dogs involved are a vital part of life for many people across the UK.
We’re very proud to have raised money for such a good cause. ‘Our hearing-focused day gave customers the chance to talk to our audiologist and find out more about the service we provide.
‘We’ve had some fantastic feedback from customers about the service and we’ll continue to grow and develop our offering.
‘We have a fantastic range of hearing aids available in store and our dedicated team is always on hand to offer hearing advice and conduct assessments.’
People who are suffering from wax build-up can now visit Specsavers Audiologists in the Rivergate Shopping Centre to take advantage of the new wax removal service.
The process uses state-of-the-art micro suction equipment which gently removes wax from the ear and is an effective alternative to syringing. Video technology is also used to show before and after footage.
The procedure is carried out by the store’s clinical audiologist, Thomas Allison, who explains: ‘There are lots of people who may benefit from a wax removal session, in particular, those who suffer hearing loss, or who have hearing aids as they can cause the ear to produce more wax.
‘People who regularly wear headphones are also at risk of suffering wax build-up.
‘We use high-tech equipment to remove the wax and we’re even able to show you the difference it has made once complete.
‘I’d like to welcome anyone who feels they may benefit from the treatment to get in touch.’
