The search is on for 2018’s Spectacle wearer of the year with a £10,000 cash prize up for grabs.
In 2017 Ipswich was the home of both regional finalist Joseph 'Jobie' Baker and national finalist Yvonne Harrigan. Could a local resident be the national winner this year?
Half a million donated
Specs wearers across Ipswich aged 16 and over can put themselves forward for the prestigious accolade by sending a selfie through specsavers.co.uk/loveglassecomp.
One pound will be donated to Kidscape for each entry made, to help provide practical support to children and families affected by bullying, including advice resources, phone support and workshops. The competition has raised more than half a million pounds for anti-bullying charity Kidscape over the past nine years.
Ming Tye, store director at Specsavers Ipswich says ‘It was great having both a regional and national finalist in Ipswich last year. Who knows? Maybe we’ll find someone to take the title this year.’
Celebrity awards ceremony
The competition has five age categories – 16-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-59 and over 60s – plus a Facebook favourite voted for by the public. There will be 10 regional finalists chosen for each region and a national winner from each age category will win a VIP makeover and mingle with celebrities at the awards in London in October.
Deadline for entries is 1st July 2018.
