Dedicated to delivering quality optical care in the community, store directors Tim Kidd and Catherine Kidd have a combined 40 years working for Specsavers.
Tim is an optometrist and director and has worked for Specsavers for 26 years and has been a director for 25 of those. When he joined Specsavers there were only 40 stores and there are now over 1,500.
Tim grew up in Warrington and went to Bradford University. He decided to work in optometry as he wanted to work with the public in a medical role. After graduating he spent four years working as an optometrist in his home town before moving South and joining Specsavers.
He finds looking after people’s eye sight and eye health very rewarding. This can range from the provision of glasses to saving a person’s sight or even their life. After 30 years in the job he still gets great satisfaction from solving people’s sight problems.
Tim has three daughters and one grandson. In his spare time he enjoys watersports which he sees a prerequisite for living on the Isle of Wight. Tim is also a qualified helicopter pilot.
Born in Ireland but raised on the Isle of Wight, Catherine is a retail director and has worked for Specsavers for 14 years. Prior to working in optical retail she worked in the catering industry.
Catherine loves the hard working ethos of Specsavers and enjoys working with such a diverse range of people. She plays an active role in developing her team’s professional development and finds this very rewarding.
Outside work she enjoys food, cooking and spending time with her two year old child. Such is her love for cooking that she was once a kitchen porter to TV chef Brian Turner during a Cowes week.
