The team at Specsavers in Newport recently sponsored and attended a glitzy charity gala to raise funds for a local road safety charity.
Store director Catherine Kidd and the team have been supporting Isle Drive Safe – Remember Evey for the past 18 months and sponsored the charity’s gala ball, which was attended by 200 people.
The charity, which was founded by Neal and Penny Staley in memory of their ten-year-old daughter, Evey, who was killed when a drink and drug driver crashed into their family car, raised close to £3,000 on the night.
Speaking about the evening, Catherine said: ‘The Isle Drive Safe gala was a huge success, and we are honoured to have been a part of it. The funds raised will go a long way to raising awareness of road safety matters and we look forward to continuing to support the charity.’
On-going fundraising efforts
The team has attended and hosted various fundraising events in aid of Isle Drive Safe, and recently welcomed England’s only single deck open top bus back to town as part of their on-going efforts.
The gala was held at Cowes Yacht Haven and guests were treated to a dinner and raffle, table magicians and a fun photo booth! All followed by dancing until the small hours with music from local band Switch and DJ Omar Lakhssassi.
