Specsavers in Newport are helping children to stay safe at night by donating high visibility vests to local children.

Free vests

The store is offering free vests to children who come into the store to help them stay safe over the winter. They are also encouraging local Brownies and Guides groups to get in contact if they would like to receive some vests.

Specsavers store director, Catherine Kidd said: ‘We want to make sure that children are safe and visible at night as winter is fast approaching. The clocks have changed and nights have got darker, so we hope our donation will help put parents’ minds at ease when they’re escorting their children to and from after school activities.’

Drive safe

Specsavers has campaigned throughout the past decade to highlight the link between vision and road safety. In addition to its work donating high-visibility vests to schools across the country, Specsavers has toured motor and country shows nationwide, screening drivers’ vision in its Drive Safe campaign trailer.
