Specsavers in Newport joined forces with two best-selling authors to raise funds for a local charity.
Bob and Carol Bridgestock
The store recently hosted a fundraising event to raise money for the Helping Someone Cause. As part of the fundraiser crime writing team Bob and Carol Bridgestock sold signed copies of their latest book ‘Reprobates’. A percentage of the proceeds from the day were donated to the charity.
Catherine Kidd, ophthalmic director of Specsavers in Newport, said: ‘I would like to thank our loyal customers for their support and for making the day such a success. We have raised vital funds for a very good cause. It was very exciting to have both Bob and Carol come to the store and our customers thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Helping Someone Cause is a charity single organised by Lisa Edge to raise money for five of the Island’s charities including Young Carers, Johns Club, The Open Arms, Kissypuppy and Age UK. Following the initial success of the single the Helping Someone Cause developed into a wider fundraising initiative.
