Twenty trendy spec-wearers have been recruited for the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year (SWOTY) 2014 competition.
Staff from Specsavers in Inverness held a scouting day for SWOTY entrants all day on Saturday, June 14, as well as fundraising for anti-bullying charity, Kidscape and UK military charity, Help for Heroes.
The group of proud spec-wearers had their photographs taken in a photo booth in store and enjoyed a selection of cupcakes and treats.
They will now be entered into the competition to be crowned Spectacle Wearer of the Year and will have a chance of winning £10,000 in cash and a dream holiday to the Bahamas.
The winner will be revealed at a star-studded awards event hosted by Gok Wan later this year.
Deirdre Newcomen, store director at Specsavers in Inverness, says: ‘I’m pleased to say we had a good turnout on Saturday with lots of local people getting their photograph taken in their specs.
'Anyone aged 16 to 60-plus can come into the store any time or can enter online. Fingers crossed we have a winner from Inverness this year.'
There are four age categories – 16-24; 25-39; 40-59 and 60+, plus a Facebook favourite voted for by the public. A winner from each category will win a VIP makeover and will attend the celebrity-studded grand final in London at 8 Northumberland Avenue on 7th October.
Girls Aloud singer, Kimberley Walsh, is the face of Specsavers’ Love Glasses campaign and the associated Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition, which sees £1 donated by Specsavers to Kidscape for every entry.
