Staff from Specsavers in Ilkeston have handed over three santa sacks filled with around 50 toys donated by generous customers to young patients at Royal Derby Hospital.

For the past four weeks the store has been collecting new toys for the Dolphin’s Children’s Ward. Staff have been overwhelmed by the response from customers, with donated toys including building blocks, board games and the sought-after Disney Elsa doll.

Krishna Parmar, store director at Specsavers in Ilkeston, said: ‘Christmas really does bring the best out in people and I am so grateful to my team and to our customers for their generosity. It must be so hard for little ones who are in hospital over the holidays, but hopefully these gifts will help to put a smile on their faces.’
