Customers visiting Specsavers in Ilkeston might have thought they were wearing rose coloured specs on Friday (24 October), when they were greeted by a team in pink!
Staff at the store raised a massive £430 for Cancer Research UK as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
As well as making donations to sport pink outfits, the team served up tasty baked treats and offered specs MOTs (cleaning and adjustments) in return for donations to the charity. There was also a raffle with lots of spec-tacular prizes on offer.
‘The whole team wanted to support this initiative as most of us know someone who has been affected by breast cancer,’ says Krishna Parmar, store director.
‘There is of course a serious message behind what we’re doing and we are grateful that customers helped us raise such a huge amount for a great charity.’
Cancer Research UK is the world's leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. It works to fight against cancer on all fronts, finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat it to save more lives.
