An Ilkeston opticians donated non-perishable items and food supplies for those in need during the festive season.
The Specsavers store, located at 104 Bath Street, Ilkeston, collected on behalf of the Arena Church Community Group Foodbank during December and made their donation to the charity just before Christmas.
They also encouraged the wider community to donate tinned and dried foods, as well as packaged gift sets, for the charity effort to help local people in need.
‘Christmas is a time of the year that everyone should be able to enjoy,’ said store director, Krishna Parmar. ‘We hoped that by donating food to those in need, we helped make the festive season a little bit jollier for those struggling to get by.
‘It’s important to recognise that there are so many people in our community who are unable to provide for themselves and their families. As a local business, it’s our responsibility to help as much as we can.
'Thanks to the generosity of the local Ilkeston community, we were able to donate more than 100 items for the foodbank last month.’
