Specsavers in Huyton has thanked their customers for their generosity in donating 600 old glasses, in 2017, as part of Specsavers charity campaign to help people in Africa better their eyesight.
Vision Aid Overseas
Vision Aid Overseas has been helping some of the poorest people in the world see properly since 1985. The charity’s mission is to give people living in poverty the chance to access affordable glasses and eye care.
Once the glasses are collected and have been recycled, the money is donated to help provide vital optical services for countries in need.
With Vision Aid Overseas, shoppers and staff have managed to donate a record amount of glasses due to their generous donations.
A word from the store director
Melanie Lutas, store director at Huyton, said: ‘The 2017 campaign has been a huge success and everyone donation means a lot. This is all thanks to the support of our kind customers and staff.
‘We have optical care available to us when we need it here in the UK and are very lucky that we do. In poorer countries, they aren’t as fortunate so it’s important that we donate where we can and alongside Vision Aid Overseas, help to make a significant impact on people’s lives.’
