The team at Specsavers in Hucknall shared their optical and aural expertise this summer, attending the local doctor’s surgery health event.
Providing advice to local community
Alongside other community groups, including the ambulance service, community carers and local charities, they provided advice and information to Hucknall locals throughout the day.
Store director and optometrist, Stephen Archer, was on hand for an ‘Ask the Optician’ session. Audiologist Lianne Jones performed three-minute hearing screeners as an initial check to see if patients needed further examination.
Staff also provided water, eye health leaflets for information on minor eye conditions, provided specs MOTs and gave advice about contact lenses.
A word from the store director
Janet Archer, store director said: ‘It was important to attend the event and demonstrate that the optician is there for so much more than just testing your prescription – it’s also a vital health check to monitor the ongoing condition of the eye.
‘We had some very positive feedback from those that attended on the day, and it was fantastic to see so many other groups and services sharing our aim to provide better care to the Hucknall community.’
