Staff at Specsavers Holloway helped to raise awareness of diabetes by whipping up treats for a bake sale.
Aprons at the ready
The kind-hearted team got their aprons on and baked a tempting spread of cakes to raise money for the cause.
Customers were asked to make small donations in return for a tasty treat, and had a host of delights to choose from including cupcakes, biscuits, brownies and cakes.
There are 3.9m known diabetes sufferers in Britain and at least half a million more that are unaware they have the condition. Around 30 per cent of diabetics will develop some sort of diabetic retinopathy, which can lead to blindness. However, if diabetic retinopathy is detected early and treated, blindness can be prevented in 90 per cent of cases.
Store director, Natasha Rathour, said: ‘We had such good fun as a team baking the treats, but most importantly in helping to raise awareness and prevent sight loss’
