The team at Specsavers Hoddesdon slipped on their shades to serve customers recently, to raise awareness for National Sunglasses Day.
This year, the Royal National Institute for Blind People (RNIB) is running the #shadesforsight campaign alongside National Sunglasses Day, asking people to consider protecting their eyes from the sun this summer.
A word from the store director
‘According to the RNIB, nearly half of all cases of sight loss are preventable’, says Hoddesdon store director Lee Jobson-Fowle.
‘That is a shocking statistic, and something as simple as popping on a pair of sunglasses could help save your sight. Not all sunglasses are created equal. A UV filter will protect your eyes. For the best possible protection make sure they are marked CE or British Standard BS EN ISO 12312-1:2013.’
