Staff at the Hitchin Specsavers store are whipping out their baking gloves to raise money for charity.
The business is hosting a charity bake sale on Saturday 29 April to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
An array of sweet treats, delicious cakes and other nibbles will be on offer in exchange for donations.
Roxanne Heath, Store Supervisor at Hitchin Specsavers, says: ‘The whole team are super excited to get involved in all the charity events we’ve got planned.
'We’ve decided to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society as it’s a charity that is very close to our hearts.
‘A lot of the team here at Hitchin have had someone they know suffer from dementia. The bake sale is just the start of our fundraising as we have lots more activities planned throughout the year.’
Roxy adds: ‘Alzheimer’s Society is also a charity supported by Specsavers, and most of our staff here are qualified as Dementia Friends.
‘We hope to have everyone in store qualified as a Dementia Friend by the end of June!’
Dementia Friends, which is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative, helps staff to develop an understanding of dementia and support customers and employees who are affected by the condition. Dementia Friends is a qualification that is completed online and entails watching a series of scenario-based videos.
