A team of eleven High Wycombe eyecare experts raised almost £2.5k for Cancer Research UK after taking part in the charity’s annual half-marathon ‘Shine’ moonlight walk in central London.

The Specsavers staff, who completed the 13.1 mile challenge in only five hours, were inspired to come together to help the hundreds of thousands of people affected by cancer in the UK every year.

A word from the fundraisers

‘From our starting point at Southwark Park to the finish line at Old Billingsgate, it was a fantastic experience,’ says store director Trisha Patel who was one of the participants.

‘We saw London in a whole new light, under the stars, and we met like-minded people from across the UK, all there to support Cancer Research UK.

‘Thanks to the support of our families, friends and customers, we’ve raised more than we ever anticipated we could, covering the equivalent cost of almost ten one-day drug trials. For this, we will be forever grateful.’
