Thanks to the generosity of the Hereford community, Specsavers in the city is well on its way to raising £5,500 for the Little Princess Trust, the charity that provides real hair wigs to children affected by cancer.

The team at the store set the target earlier this year and has been working hard ever since organising a whole host of events including a quiz night, a charity bake off and a treasure hunt. The total to date is £2,053 and with perhaps the biggest event yet to come, a Take That tribute night at The Left Bank on Friday 19 August, are on track to reach their goal.

A real team effort

‘The response from the local community has been fantastic so far and we raised £500 from the bake off night alone,’ said store director Nialle Smith. ‘It’s been a real team effort and everyone has put so much into all the events so far. The Take That night is shaping up to be a really enjoyable evening and tickets are selling well but we still have some available in store or through the Left Bank’s website so make sure you get yours before they sell out!’

As a result of treatment for cancer, most children will suffer hair loss as a side effect.  Some boys and girls cope remarkably well but, for others, this can be very upsetting. The Little Princess Trust works with specialist suppliers and experienced hairdressers who offer wigs tailored to the individual child’s needs to give the most realistic look and feel, as close as possible to their original hair.
