Specsavers Hereford carried out more than 400 sight tests during National Eye Health Week after pledging to support the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).
The Specsavers store in Maylord Street donated £1 from every sight test taken during the week to the RNIB, testing a grand total of 418 customers.
A word from the store director
Store director, Nialle Smith, was delighted with the outcome: ‘We’re so thankful to all our customers for their support and contribution to this very worthy cause. It was great to get 418 customers tested over the week and we’re looking forward to handing over the money to RNIB and hope that they use it to continue to make a difference in the community.
‘As well as raising money for the charity, we raised awareness of the importance of regular eye tests. Half of all sight loss cases are preventable and we encourage everyone to undergo a sight test every two years. These tests are the first step toward prevention and act as a general health check, picking up on any abnormalities or concerns.’
