There were no half-baked efforts from the Specsavers team in Haverfordwest when they took on a baking challenge to raise money for the Alzheimers Society.
A cause close to the team’s heart
All 16 members of staff flexed their culinary prowess for an in-store bake sale, baking cakes and other goodies that helped make £105 for the leading dementia support and research charity.
The cause is particularly important to store optician Angharad Bowie, whose late grandmother had dementia.
Fundraising for worthy causes
Andy Britton, ophthalmic director at Specasavers in Haverfordwest, said: ‘The Alzheimer’s Society is a charity close to our heart. Not only does the condition affect many families in our local community, but it’s particularly important to our pre-reg optician, Angharad, whose family has been personally affected by the condition.
‘We always enjoy fundraising for worthy community causes and are delighted that our efforts went down so well with customers.’
