Generous staff at Specsavers in Havant have raised £110 for the Alzheimer’s Society after taking part in a series of charity events last month.
Raising funds for Alzheimer's
Three members of the Specsavers Havant team – customer service supervisor Sarah Bell, store manager Karen Jarrold and contact lens supervisor Sara Martin – joined more than 2,500 participants at the Memory Walk in Southsea, Portsmouth, an event held in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
Accompanied by the store’s furry mascot, Chewy, the group successfully completed the 7km round trip from Southsea Castle.
In addition, Specsavers Havant held its own in-store cake sale for customers to help generate additional funds for the charity.
About Alzheimer's Society
The Alzheimer’s Society estimates around 850,000 people in the UK are living with dementia, with more than 42,000 of those affected under the age of 65.
Store manager Karen Jarrold said: ‘We had a lot of fun taking in the sights on the walk and the fact that we were also raising money for a good cause made it even better.
‘The Alzheimer’s Society is a really important charity and we would like to thank everyone who helped us to raise donations.’
