The team from Specsavers in Havant have joined thousands of locals in completing a 12-mile through-the-night walk to raise funds for Rowan’s Hospice.
Challenging their fitness
Store manager, Karen Jarrold, says: ‘I am overwhelmed with the support we have had. We initially signed up to this as a way of increasing our fitness levels. The training involved and completing the 12 miles really was a physical and mental challenge. Every member of the team would like to say thank you for all the generosity, we have so far been able to raise over £1000 with donations still coming in.
‘There was an amazing buzz from everyone involved, which really spurred us on. Without donations from businesses like Specsavers, and from the wider public, the charity would not be able to offer care and support for families in need.’
Rowan’s hospice has a range of integrated services. The Community Care team provides expert care in homes, nursing homes and in hospitals. When a patient’s symptoms become too complex to be treated at home they can be admitted for 24 hour in-patient care in one of their 19 en suite bedrooms.
