A Hartlepool optical assistant was delighted when her helpful approach was praised to Specsavers’ CEO and even inspired a charitable donation.
Kathryn assisted an octogenarian whose specs had broken, fixing the problem on the spot at Middleton Grange Shopping Centre.
Pay it forward
The customer’s son was so impressed with the care that his father received that he wrote to CEO John Perkins, then decided to ‘pay it forward’ by making a donation to the local hospice.
Mitchell Robb, store manager at Specsavers Hartlepool, said: 'We were alerted to the letter by our support office and it put a smile on all our faces, especially Kathryn’s. It was fantastic feedback to receive – Kathryn always goes above and beyond for customers and we’re delighted her hard work has been noticed.'
Kathryn added: ‘I’m honoured that a customer felt compelled to write to the head of the company about my service – it was so unexpected and so lovely. To hear that a donation was made to Alice House Hospice is brilliant – it is a very deserving charity and this was a very thoughtful gesture.’
