Specsavers in Hartlepool has been officially named a dementia-friendly business.
The store is one of only a few local businesses to have been awarded this title after the staff completed an awareness program with Alzheimer’s Society.
A word from the director
Ian Walker, director at Specsavers in Hartlepool said: ‘A diagnosis of dementia brings a number of challenges for people and their families.
‘It can often be difficult for those living with dementia to engage in the community particularly when people around them don’t understand the illness.
‘We all found this session very informative and it challenged some of our preconceptions regarding dementia. We are committed to providing a comfortable environment in our store for all of our customers.’
