Vanita Patel, Specsavers optometrist from Harlow has hit the streets of London and completed the British 10K London Run in aid of Help for Heroes.
Vanita raised £450 for the charity with armed forces charity with donations still pouring in from customers and local residents.
The charity aims to give those people, who have paid the ultimate price in war, another chance at a normal life where they can fulfil their full potential.
Vanita says: ‘Surprisingly enough I really enjoyed the day! My colleagues and the store customers have been so supportive and they’ve helped me raise a great sum of money for an equally great cause. It wasn’t an easy run but it was certainly worth it. I can’t wait to have another go next year so I can beat my time and hopefully raise even more money!’
Help those who most need it
Store director, Carley Barrett, says: ‘We’re all really proud of Vanita and what she’s achieved. With it being the centenary of the First World War this year, it is really important that we do not forget the sacrifices made by so many all those years ago and Vanita has done her part to not only remind us all of that but also to help our heroes who most need it. Well done Vanita!’
