Kind-hearted staff at the Specsavers store in Hamilton journeyed 26 miles for a good cause.
Six members of staff from the Quarry Street store took on the Rob Roy Mighty Hike – a 26-mile trek from Callander to Killin, along Rob Roy Way, and through the Trossachs National Park – to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Emma Foster, Lynne McHutcheson, Kiel Stewart, George Kelly, Rachel Duncan and Kerry McElwee crossed the finish line together and raised £2200 in the process.
Overwhelmed by support
Members of staff, along with their friends and family, raised £700 at a charity race night, and the store also generated £1500 through customer donations for glasses repairs and other fundraising activities.
Store director, Emma Foster, said: ‘We’re all very proud to have taken part. None of us had ever done anything like it before and I think we all did really well.
‘We completed the challenge in 8.5 hours and all finished within the top 250 times. It rained the whole time, but we didn’t let it dampen our motivation.
‘We’re so pleased to have raised such a fantastic amount for Macmillan and we’re overwhelmed by all the support we received from people all over Lanarkshire and beyond.’
