Kind-hearted staff at the Specsavers store in Hamilton are all set to journey 26 miles for a good cause on Saturday.
Six members of staff from the Quarry Street store are preparing to take on the Rob Roy Mighty Hike – a 26-mile trek from Callander to Killin, along Rob Roy Way, and through the Trossachs National Park – to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Emma Foster, Lynne McHutcheson, Kiel Stewart, George Kelly, Rachel Duncan and Kerry McElwee all have their walking boots at the ready as they get set for the tough challenge.
The store pledged to raise £1,500 overall in sponsorship of the dedicated hikers – and has already reached that total. Members of staff, along with their friends and family, raised £700 at a charity race night, and the store also generated £800 through customer donations for glasses repairs.
Proud to be involved
Store director Emma Foster said: ‘I’m very proud to be part of the Mighty Hike team and I know that we’re all really looking forward to taking on the challenge.
‘We’ve all seen the fantastic work Macmillan carries out across Lanarkshire and beyond and we want to be involved in helping the charity support even more people living with cancer.
‘We were completely overwhelmed with the amount of money raised and would like to say a big thank you to staff and customers.
‘We hope that our customers will continue to support on the hike and maybe even come along on the day to cheer us on.’
