Sporty members of staff from Specsavers in Hamilton are getting ready to kick off a game of football in aid of a local theatre group.
Ups and Downs
The charity match will see staff from the store battle it out on the pitch to raise money for Ups and Downs – a group which gives children and young adults with Down’s Syndrome the chance to take part in exciting drama activities.
Footie stars from the store will battle it out at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie on Sunday 5 March, kicking off at 6.30pm.
Members of the public can pay £2 to watch the match, and there will also be a raffle and a crossbar challenge at half time.
Fantastic work in the community
Store director Emma Foster said: ‘With the start of a new year, we wanted to do something a bit different to raise money for our chosen charity.
‘We have a lot of keen footballers in the store so we thought a charity game would be an ideal way to generate funds and raise awareness of the fantastic work Ups and Downs does across Lanarkshire.
‘Adults and young people get the chance to take part in so many activities and performances throughout the year and it’s great to see how much enjoyment they get from being part of the group.
‘We hope that a lot of our customers come along on the day to watch the match and get involved in the fundraising.’
