Specsavers in Hamilton has pledged to keep local school children safer by donating high visibility vests to two primary schools to mark Road Safety Week.
Children at Hareleeshill Primary in Larkhall and St Mary’s Primary in Hamilton were each presented with the vests by optical assistant Kay Muir.
They were donated to the primary schools as part of an initiative set up by Specsavers, to coincide with Road Safety Week (23 to 29 November), aimed at increasing the safety of local children when out and about by making it easier for motorists to spot them.
Kay presented 30 vests to P1 pupils at Hareleeshill in Larkhall, and 250 vests to pupils from St Mary’s.
A word from our store director
Store director Emma Foster said: ‘At this time of year, it can be difficult for motorists to see pedestrians and dusk is particularly hazardous for children when they are walking home from school.
‘Helping to increase the safety of children in Hamilton and Larkhall is very important to us, so we were delighted to present the vests to the youngsters as part of Road Safety Week.
‘We’re sure they will help the children be seen and be safe.’
