Kind-hearted staff from an Edinburgh opticians have donated nearly £100 to Blind Veterans UK.
Specsavers at The Gyle donated £203 to the charity following Armed Forces Week 2015 (22 to 28 June), contributing to the total of £16,606 raised by Specsavers across the UK.
Staff from Specsavers helped celebrate 100 years of the charity’s work helping blind ex-Service men and women, by dedicating £1 per sight test as well as encouraging donations in the store.
Specsavers The Gyle store director, Craig Daker said: ‘We were delighted to be involved in supporting Blind Veterans UK this year. The charity is currently supporting more than 4,000 blind veterans and with our help, they hope to reach their target of recruiting 700 new beneficiaries in the coming year.

Blind Veterans UK was founded in 1915 and offers support, training and rehabilitation to blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women. The charity’s mission is to ensure that all blind veterans have access to the finest quality services to help them discover life beyond sight loss.
