Opticians at Specsavers in Guiseley are encouraging local people to donate winter clothes to be distributed to local homeless charities.
Guiseley Specsavers will be collecting items such as hats, socks, jumpers and coats at their store based at Morrisons on Otley Road. Any customers who want to contribute to the appeal can drop off warm winter clothing at the Specsavers store any time before Christmas Day.
One of the charities benefitting will be St George’s Crypt, a Christian charity that works with homeless and vulnerable adults in Leeds. They provide food, clothing, and bedding, as well as resettlement support services. The Specsavers collection will form part of their annual Christmas appeal to increase donations to the charity.
A word from the Director
Amanda Gale, director at Guiseley Specsavers, said: ‘These charities require donations all year round, but with winter coming, the need for warm items such as hats, scarves and coats is even more urgent.
‘I’m sure there are plenty of warm clothes lying around in people’s homes that could be donated to this cause. Donating is as simple as dropping items off in store and will enormously aid these charities.’
