The Greenock opticians will raise funds for Comic Relief by organising a fundraising event and selling comedy specs.
Visitors to Specsavers in Greenock can join in with this year’s Comic Relief theme ‘give us a wave’ with Specsavers’ official Red Nose Day glasses. The glasses, which have a waving hand on each side, come in children’s and adult sizes and are just £2, with all the money donated to Comic Relief.
Dressing up for Comic Relief
The store’s fundraising activities also include a dress down day on Friday 24 March (Red Nose Day) to help raise awareness of Comic Relief – all participating staff will make a donation to the charity.
Lesley Brown, store director of Specsavers in Greenock, said: ‘Specsavers smashed its £250,000 fundraising goal during the last Comic Relief appeal and we can’t wait to contribute to this year’s total.
‘We’d like to encourage Greenock locals to stop by our fundraising event and check out our fantastic Red Nose Day specs.’
Specsy Red Nose Day selfies
Customers are also being encouraged to take a waving selfie while wearing the glasses and share it on social media using the hashtag #giveusawave.
Specsavers in Greenock has joined Specsavers stores nationwide to support Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa and pledged to raise at least £250,000 for the charity.
