Great Yarmouth has been collecting glasses tirelessly for the last six months to donate to international sight charity Vision Aid Overseas (VAO), who enable people living in poverty overseas to access affordable glasses and eye care.
Since January the team have collected an incredible 2000 glasses thanks to the generosity of the local community, who have handed in pairs of used and unwanted glasses to help improve access to eyecare services in developing nations.
A word from the director
Store director Martin McCormack, said: ‘We’re always overwhelmed by the generosity of the local community when we do our annual collections for VAO. Thank you to everyone who has donated.
‘Thanks to you the sale of the reusable materials from these glasses will help create a positive effect on the lives of people less fortunate millions of miles away.’
Keep the donations coming
Martin added: ‘We’re hoping with our current rate of collection that we will reach a total donation of 4000 by the end of the year. If you have any old or unwanted glasses, do come in store and donate. Even the smallest donations help us greatly.’
