Specsavers staff in Gorseinon have held a spook-tacular in-store event to raise more than £75 for the charity, Guide Dogs.

A ghoulish fundraiser

Taking on the Halloween theme, the Gorseinon staff donned their scariest outfits, decorated the store and held a competition for the best pumpkin carving.

The opticians also held a bake sale with some creepy cakes on offer for customers in return for a donation to Guide Dogs.

‘A proud supporter’

Sally Anne Colquhoun, store director of Specsavers in Gorseinon, said: ‘Specsavers has been a proud supporter of Guide Dogs for more than 10 years. Thanks to the generosity of our customers we have raised a nationwide total of £270,000 in the past four years, which has funded 25 guide dog puppies.

‘We’d like to thank all our customers for their donations again this year; we’re delighted to have got involved and raised money for such a fantastic cause.’

Lisa Bell, Guide Dogs’ corporate partnerships officer, said: ‘Every hour another person in the UK loses their sight, and the impact is life changing. The Guide Dogs charity is here to make sure that when someone loses their vision they don’t have to lose their freedom as well.’
