Staff at the Gorseinon Specsavers store donned their best high heels in a one-day event as they strolled the day away in store, to raise £286 for Velindre Cancer Care.
This event was part of an overall fundraising initiative by the store during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Store bake off
In addition, the store hosted its very own Specsavers bake off with local pantomime star, Denny Twp, as one of the judges. All cakes were then sold with the money raised going towards the store’s overall fundraising total for Velindre Cancer Care.
Sallyanne Colquhoun, director of the Gorseinon store, said: ‘We had so much fun taking part in the fundraising activity. Needless to say there were a few sore feet at the end of the day, but that’s a very small price to pay to try and help those who are suffering from cancer.
‘I speak on behalf of myself and all of the team here at the store when I say a huge thank you to everyone who donated money on the day. Every penny raised has been donated to a truly fantastic cause. We also like to thank Denny Twp for taking the time out of his busy pantomime schedule to judge our bake off.
‘Cancer is something that unfortunately affects so many of us and, as a community opticians, we thought this activity was a great way to bring the community together during Breast Cancer Awareness month to have some fun and raise money for a really great cause.’
