To mark World Cancer Day 2016, Specsavers in Glenrothes hosted a sweet tasting fundraiser in store and raised £250 for Cancer Research UK.
The local opticians held a bake sale with lots of tasty treats up for grabs along with the new Cancer Research unity bands which were also on sale.
Choosing to support World Cancer Day was important to Specsavers Glenrothes as it is a cause close to the heart of many of the store team, especially optical assistant Megan Gartshore. Megan’s grandmother, Jeanette Malcolm, who has beaten breast cancer, was a big support to the store on their fundraising day. Not only did Jeanette volunteer to man the bake sale stall throughout the day, she also baked the variety of delicious goodies for everyone to enjoy.
Specsavers Glenrothes store director Stewart Wilson said: ‘I am delighted with the total we raised for Cancer Research UK.
‘I’d like to thank the Glenrothes store team and all the customers who visited us on the day and helped us reach this great sum. Special thanks must go to Jeanette Malcolm who was a fantastic help on the day, her efforts ensured our fundraiser was a great success.’
