Poorly young patients on Medway Hospital's children's ward have been inundated with books and Easter eggs, raised by a local opticians.

Staff from Specsavers Gillingham collected more than 120 children books and almost 20 Easter eggs from customers and team members and delivered them to the Dolphin and Penguin Ward of Medway Hospital, which was moved by the generosity of the store and the local community.

Craig Holland, store director of Specsavers in Gillingham, said: ‘It's really important to us to get involved in the local community and we are proud to have supported the Medway Hospital. We hope the children, who unfortunately had to spend some the Easter holidays in there, have benefited from our donation and that our books and chocolate will make them smile.’
