A Galashiels opticians has raised over £300 in a day of fundraising for Guide Dogs Scotland.

Specsavers in Galashiels held a fun day during Guide Dogs Week, generating vitals funds for the charity and to make customers aware of all the hard work that goes into training the dogs so they can improve the lives of people with sight problems.

Over £300 raised
The store welcomed two puppies to the store, along with their handlers, who spoke to staff and customers about their experiences with Guide Dogs and the positive effect they have on the lives of those with sight problems.

The store raised over £300 from charity collection buckets and a coffee morning – featuring lots of home baked goodies for staff and customers to enjoy.

Worthwhile cause
Stuart Forrester, store director at Specsavers in Galashiels, says: ‘Guide Dogs Scotland does a lot of fantastic work in the community and we were delighted to have the dogs and handlers in-store to raise awareness.

‘We would like to thank all those who donated to the very worthy cause, and look forward to welcoming the dogs again in the future.’
